Blocked Pop-ups
Some web browsers and/or popup-blocking software may prevent the Asthma Action Plan from being generated. To allow the Plan to open, try the following:
Internet Explorer, Firefox
Blocked pop-ups are indicated by a yellow bar across the top of the webpage.
- Click on the yellow bar or Options button at the top of the page.
- Click on Show or Allow to display the Asthma Action Plan.
- If you wish, you may want to select Always allow pop-up from this site to prevent the Action Plan being block in future.
Google Chrome
- Click the blocked pop-up icon in the web address bar
- Select the option to allow pop-ups from the Asthma Action Plan website.
Opera
Notification of blocked pop-ups appear in the lower right corner of the screen. Click the notification box to open the action plan window.
Displaying languages correctly
Action Plans may not display correctly if fonts or langage packs for that language are missing from your computer.
Below is a table of how the languages look, compared to how your browser renders them. If a language is not displaying correctly, follow the links to suggested ways to correct the problem.

General tips
All of the above language use the Unicode (UFT-8) character set. In most cases, your browser should automatically select the correct encoding. To check which character set your web browser has chosen, and select UTF-8 if it isn't already set:
- Internet Explorer: click View > Encoding, choose Unicode (UTF-8)
- Firefox: click View > Character Encoding, choose Unicode (UTF-8)
- Google Chrome: Click the page icon near the top-right corner, go to Encoding, choose Unicode (UTF-8)
- Opera: If the Menu Bar is visible, click View > Encoding > Unicode > UTF-8
If the Menu Bar is not visible, click the red and white O icon in the top left corner, choose Page > Encoding > Unicode > UTF-8
You may need to install additional language support from the installation disks of your operating system (for Sinhalese, please see note below). Check the relevent documentation for your computer, or contact your organisation's technical support.
Sinhalese
The Sinhala unicode block is not natively supported in Mac OS X or some versions of Windows, and will not display correctly without additional fonts and/or language packs. A web search will return a number of free and paid sinhalese fonts, including FMBindumathi, sandaru-n and Malithi Web, which are all supported by this Action Plan.
Printing
General Tips
- View a Print Preview of the page before printing
- Adjust margins, headers and footers to take full advantage of available space
- Use a colour printer if available
- Print on A4 paper in portrait mode
- Most browsers will allow you to Shrink to fit page width or Fit to page.
To produce an electronic version of the form, Save or Print to PDF. PDF print drivers are available with most PDF readers.
